SSSD has an opening for a Section Manger - Cryogenic Technologies reporting to the Department Manager of Thermal, Propulsion, and Cryocooler Systems in the Vehicle Engineering Directorate. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

You will provide support maintaining and evolving cryogenic propulsion and cryocooler technology that will continue to enable innovative solutions for programs. You will lead a group of approximately 12 engineers responsible for cryogenic propulsion and cryocooler development and production. Approximately 20% of your time will be spent performing leadership, people management, and supervisory duties such as management of personnel, program design reviews, coordination of job assignments, staffing, recruiting, performance management, and enforcement of common tools and processes used by section members across programs. The balance of the section manager's time will be spent supporting cryocooler programs performing mechanical and systems engineering roles.
You will have experience working with diverse technical teams, and must also be experienced with the design, assembly and test of flight hardware. You will work with the flight hardware on acceptance testing and requirement documentation. You will be responsible for requirements review, definition, assessment, verification, validation and flow down during all program phases. You will be responsible for initiation, preparation, coordination, archival, and submittal of EIDPs for all deliverables and of all SDRL items.

Bachelors of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution with 5 years of engineering experience focused on the design, assembly, and/or test of fluid mechanical products or systems engineering of mechanical systems.
Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance and SCI Clearance
Prior functional management experience OR engineering team lead experience
Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
An active DoD Secret Security Clearance and SCI Clearance
Experience with hardware procurement/supply chain operations
Experience working with cryocoolers
Experience with propulsion systems
Experience with fluid components
Experience with negotiating requirements with customers, flowing down requirements, and creating verification plans.
Experience creating End Item Data Packages (EIDP)
Experience leading the creating of design review packages
