Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an exciting career opportunity for a Controls Technology Section Manager (SM) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be at Northrop Grumman's South Bay Center of Excellence (CoE) located in Redondo Beach, CA.

Position Overview:

The Controls Technology Section Manager is responsible for providing functional home room (FHR) management of a team of Controls and VMS engineers, GNC/VMS subsystem engineers and hardware engineers who are responsible for the development of multiple GNC baselines for multiple programs. You will interface frequently with section members, functional manager and all programs your team supports. You will be tasked with setting and implementing functional/organizational objectives and providing guidance to employees. Additional responsibilities performance tracking and evaluation of section members and assisting/leading hiring activities for her/his group. You will be responsible for supporting the section members with functional, human resource and development activities. This SM role will comprise approximately 20% of your work and the remaining 80% will be fulfilling a technical role as an Controls/VMS engineer.

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, communication, and organizational skills and professional development/mentoring skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements, streamline activities, and develop effective processes.

  • Technical background in Airborne Controls Subsystem design.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related engineering experience.

  • Candidate must have experience in Control/GNC and/or VMS development deliverables and processes.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government in-scope DoD Secret security clearance or higher is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering discipline from an accredited university.

  • A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret clearance.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience.

  • 3+ years of working GN&C or VMS for advanced concepts through conceptual and preliminary design for air, missile, and/or space projects.

  • 1+ year of experience leading technical teams in the areas of GNC or VMS
