Northrop Grumman is looking for an Assistant Department Manager (ADM) to support the Antenna Products department manager in overall management of his organization as well as manage the department's senior staff. The senior staff is comprised of individuals from both RF and mechanical disciplines that hold critical positions on programs that span the department's portfolio.

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Specific knowledge related to antenna design, analysis techniques and tools, and test/verification methods as well as general knowledge related to current state-of-the-art, system trades, and cost considerations/factors for broadband, reflector-based, and phased array antennas.

  • Project management skills for all phases of antenna hardware development and sell-off, from proposal and initial cost estimating, requirements derivation, design, fabrication, assembly, to verification and final delivery.

  • Good technical writing skills, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills are needed.

  • People Leadership and Management experience

  • Proposal development and support

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the recruitment of new talent and retention of current talent in the department in order to satisfy program staffing demands

  • Managing the performance review process, hold regular meetings, and keep senior section members informed of company developments. (15-20 members)

  • Attend key program reviews that involve antenna products

  • Actively work with section members on development activities

  • Support the department manager in the development and execution of engagement-related activities

  • Contribute to infrastructure improvements (e.g. design methodology, simulation tools, development of best design practices, capital projects, etc).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university

  • 7 years of engineering experience in Defense & Aerospace industry

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in technical leadership or functional management

  • A current SCI level security clearance, to include a Single Scope Background Investigation, a periodic re-investigation, or an original adjudication date completed within the last 6 years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Electronics & Payloads processes, procedures and work instructions required to support both management and engineering tasks

  • Experience as a functional manager

  • Antenna Design experience for Class A space production program

  • A current DoD Top Secret level security clearance

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
