Strategic Space Systems Division has an opening for a Mechanical Technician 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is one of the leaders in providing first class products to the world. One of the capabilities at Space Park is the fabrication of complex composite parts. The fabrication would include using prepreg materials, use of bagging and release films, use of autoclaves, and the use of precision measuring equipment.

Performs a variety of duties assisting mechanical engineers in the development of mechanical and electromechanical engineering designs, tests, fabrications, modifications, assemblies and components. Drafts detailed drawings for fabrication. Devices, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies. Sets up and tests complete prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions. Analyzes data and recommends modifications to components or test procedure to meet desired specifications.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related technician experience.

  • Proficient in use of precision measuring instruments.

  • Experience in handling chemicals such as Isopropyl Alcohol and Acetone

  • Adept at reading drawings, process specification, and work order instructions.

  • Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security clearance or SCI Access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AA degree or other two-year technical degree

  • experience in the use of prepreg, bagging, autoclaves, ovens and release materials or equivalent.

  • Familiar with Northrop Grumman Corporation processes.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office to supplement work order and other data requirements

  • Able to perform work daily in an approved clean room environment, to include wearing clean room garments.

  • Willing to work any shift.

Salary Range: $51,800 - $86,400

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
