Strategic Space Systems Division has an opening for a Mechanical Technician 2 - Plating to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.
In this role a candidate must possess the following:
Intermediate skills in plating copper, nickel, tin lead, precious metals, and perform passivation and chemical conversion coatings.
A willingness to build upon a familiarity in electroplating techniques, and hazardous chemical handling.
Ability to read and interpret blue prints and drawing notes.
Be able to provide general laboratory support such as scheduled routine tasks, instrument preventative maintenance, prepare standards, restocking chemical inventory, and good housekeeping to comply with ESH&M regulations.
Candidate will become well versed in military standards as well as industry process specifications.
Candidate must be self-motivated, reliable, industrious, and able to work independently.
A willingness to follow in-house processes without regard for past experience is required for the candidate to be successful.
Working hours on a 9/80 schedule.
Candidate must be willing to work Overtime and any shift.
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
A minimum of 2 Years of technician or plating experience
Experience in plating copper, nickel, tin lead, precious metals, passivation and chemical conversion.
Experience controlling rectifiers and plating parameters to achieve desired finish.
Verifying and recording processing information on written & electronic logs.
Recognizing quality problems and help provide solutions to corrective actions.
Use of X-Ray and other instruments to verify plating thickness.
