Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an exciting career opportunity for an Infrared (IR) & Visual (VIS) Survivability (SRV) Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals working within the IR/VIS SRV Team supporting Visual and Infrared (IR) modeling and technology development. This position will be at the NGAS Survivability & Specialty Systems Engineering (S&SSE) South Bay Center of Excellence (CoE) located in Redondo Beach, CA.
The IR/VIS Survivability Engineer will support a diverse modeling, design and integration team within Research, Technology, and Engineering (RT&E) at NGAS. The IR/VIS SRV team performs a number of tasks ranging from Modeling & Simulation (M&S) development / validation, vehicle design and analysis, Research and Development (R&D) in survivability technologies, materials, lab measurements, and field tests.
The selected candidate will be responsible for executing the technical scope of the analysis, building presentation material from the results and briefing customers and other necessary stakeholders. The selected candidate will be a part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT), supporting multi-disciplinary advanced development programs and technology R&D.
Perform IR/VIS SRV Design and Analysis of advance aircraft using utilizing Modeling & Simulation (M&S) and CAD tools.
Analyze results, create PowerPoint charts, and brief content to customers.
Work closely with IPT and Program Management to ensure Statement of Work (SOW) is met.
Support business capture activities; proposal creation, formulate SOW's, develop plans for cost and schedule.
Support M&S Verification / Validation, R&D, and measurement/test activities.

Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years related engineering experience, or a Master's Degree and 0 years of experience.
Demonstrated proficiency in Python scripting.
Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office with strong technical writing skills and the ability to communicate and present technical material to various stakeholders.
A current active in-scope U.S. Government issued DoD Secret security clearance or higher, with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SPA).
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
Experience working with Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) and/or meshing tools such as CATIA, NX, Solidworks, ProE, etc.
Experience with VIS/IR modeling & simulation, radiometric image processing, thermal management systems.
Experience with optical measurements for VIS/IR materials (e.g., Bidirectional reflectance distribution function, BRDF).
Experience programming with Matlab, C++, or Java a plus.
A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Top Secret clearance with current or previous Special Program Access.
