Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Systems Test Engineer 5to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

Electrical System Test Engineerwill support the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) electrical integration and test team. Test engineering scope includes working knowledge of Spacecraft Flight Hardware, Software, and electrical ground support equipment (EGSE).

General duties include: Creation of automated test scripts and post-processing tools, CAPE procedure authoring, verification/validation of sub-system and system level requirements, cross-team collaboration and support of troubleshooting efforts. Candidate will be expected to interface with NASA customers, Flight Software, Database, Mechanical and Ground Operations teams.

Candidate must be flexible with work schedule, able to support shift and weekend work, travel to off-site locations and be on-call for off-nominal situations.

Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledges technical, schedule and cost constraints. Develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for completing systems. Coordinates integrated testing activities. Reviews and evaluates test requirements to insure completeness of test program. Performs technical analysis of complete systems and prepares comprehensive system level evaluations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution and 14 years of engineering experience in an aerospace environment OR Masters of Science degree in a STEM field from an accredited institution and 12 years of engineering experience in an aerospace environment

  • 10 years of experience with satellite integration, test, and launch

  • Experience in a lead role on a major satellite program

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in some or all of the following is desired:

  • Linux, C, Python

  • Familiarity with ECLIPSE

  • Measurement equipment (spectrum analyzer, power meter, network analyzer)

  • Must work well in a team environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
