Northrop Grumman SSSD has an opening for a Director 1 - Vulture Communication Subsystem Lead to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.
The Vulture Program is a $250M Communication Subsystem (CSS) to be hosted on a restricted satellite. The CSS consists of high-rate Ka-band RF downlink, optical crosslink, and optical relay and processor payloads. The Vulture Lead will oversee a multi-disciplinary team (System Engineering, RF, Digital, Antenna, Controls) to design, fabricate, assembly, test and deliver the CSS in a rapid timeframe (4 years) utilizing tailored Class B processes.
• Oversee the technical baseline including RF, Lasercom, Antenna, Digital processing fabrication, assembly, test, and verification
• Manage the cost and schedule baseline
• Coordinate the staffing needs with engineering management
• Manage approximately 5 subcontracts
• Actively manage risks, opportunities and issues
• Responsible for working across numerous Northrop Grumman sites to establish and maintain a collaborative, working relationship.
This leadership position reports to the Communication Systems Business Unit.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or STEM; minimum 5 years of prior management experience; 10 years of engineering experience in the aerospace industry
Technical management experience delivering space hardware; IPT and/or project management experience
Experience with earned value management (EVM)
Active SCI and/or Top Secret clearance with an ability to obtain a SAP clearance
Master's degree in Engineering or Science
Proven ability to lead and influence a high performance team and possess exceptional communication skills across all levels of the organization and customers
Proficient executive presentation communication skills
Subcontract management experience
Experience working across Northrop Grumman sites
Experience developing/tailoring processes for reduced mission class programs.
Experience with design, fabrication or test of RF, Lasercom, Antenna, and/or Digital processing systems
