Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Flight Test Conductor to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located at the NAS Patuxent River, MD.
The selected Principal Flight Test Conductor will work plane-side providing second (2nd) shift coverage and have direct involvement with maintenance and engineering personnel coordinating the preparation of the F-35 B/C aircraft for test mission execution.
The selected candidate will support multiple aspects involved with test execution which may include: flight test planning, aircraft configuration and preparation, and ensuring all mechanisms and support equipment are available to meet ground and/or flight tests objectives with the Combined Test Force at NAS Patuxent River, MD.
Coordination and communication of issues and status with Test Operations Managers, maintenance, logistics and responsible engineers is required. This position will act as the principal focal point between maintenance and engineering personnel. The ability to work either first (1st) or second (2nd) shift is required; as this position is for (2nd) Shift.
Day-to-day tasks will include coordination and execution of pre-flight and post-flight activities to ensure aircraft test readiness to include issuance, and closure of documentation relating to work performed on the aircraft, and coordination of aircraft modifications. Position requires control and tracking of aircraft configuration, coordinating and staging of support equipment, developing and maintaining aircraft test schedules.
Provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific test projects.
Oversee the operational aspects of engineering tests and serves as liaison to program, engineering, and line maintenance management. Reviews status of test requirements, manages schedules, and prepares reports. Assesses anomalies and develops resolutions to documented procedures in conjunction with Air Vehicle, Test Operations, and Quality Engineering departments.
Coordinate with other organizations to ensure safe and effective execution of test activities.
The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related test experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of test experience, or 9 years of exempt test experience in lieu of the STEM Degree will be considered.
Ability and willingness to work second shift which may also include non-standard shifts/overtime and travel for repeated short periods.
A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SAP).
Previous test experience of multiple disciplines.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Demonstrated mentoring and coaching skills.
Excellent communications skills, including the ability to brief test results to executive leadership.
