Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an opening for a Technical Editor and Writer Level 2 or Level 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA .

This position may be hired at a higher level.

Overview

Reporting to the HALE / Triton Palmdale Production IPT, the Technical Editor and Writer will be responsible for document generation including operational procedures, test procedure maintenance, technical papers and presentations, Flight and Ground Operation procedures, and Program Plans. Documents will primarily be in standard print formats; however, some documents are expected to transition to multimedia and web-based formats. The selected candidate will be responsible for interfacing with individual teams and should demonstrate very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to gain cooperation and work effectively with others. The candidate must be able to understand management direction to generate deliverables in a time-sensitive environment and orchestrate people, resources, and tasks dealing with advanced subject matter.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Create, maintain, and update Triton program maintenance and operations procedures, e.g. jacking procedures, WRA removal and regression, etc.

  • Create, maintain, and update Triton production program test procedures to include TVAR and PVAR incorporation

  • Acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers and subject matter experts, observing the performance of production methods, and individual research

  • Generate custom reports and documents including monthly status reports, monthly presentations, technical documents, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and industry white papers

  • Provide guidance and review of presentations and documents for program personnel to improve the overall capabilities of the team

Basic Qualifications for level 2:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 3 or more years of experience in writing and presentation generation; or Master's degree and 1 or more years of experience in writing and presentation generation

  • Demonstrated competency in desktop and publishing applications, with proficiency in document, image, and editing software

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and PDF)

  • Ability to multi-task and meet demanding deadlines with focus on attention to detail and accuracy

  • Able to assimilate information from multiple sources and create single point documentation

  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance and Special Program Access

Basic Qualifications for level 3:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 6 or more years of experience in writing and presentation generation; or Master's degree and 4 or more years of experience in writing and presentation generation

  • Demonstrated competency in desktop and publishing applications, with proficiency in document, image, and editing software

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and PDF)

  • Ability to multi-task and meet demanding deadlines with focus on attention to detail and accuracy

  • Able to assimilate information from multiple sources and create single point documentation

  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance and Special Program Access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience creating and maintaining technical documents and procedures in support of air vehicle production and test

  • Demonstrated ability to produce web-based documents and procedures

  • Experience working in a production/air vehicle maintenance environment or other technical/scientific area

  • Active Secret Clearance

  • Previous experience with Naval aircraft maintenance document (IETM)

Working Environment & Physical Demands:

  • This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

  • Due to the sensitive nature of the document support and the required hands-on interactions, this position requires the majority of the work to be done on site. Only a small amount, up to 10% if coordinated, of work from home will be accommodated.

  • Some domestic travel may be required up to 10%

Salary Range: $63,800 - $95,800

Salary Range 2: $78,500 - $117,700

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
