Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Support Equipment Engineering Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA.
The selected candidate will lead a group of approximately 10 engineers responsible for the mechanical and electrical aircraft support equipment design, development, and distribution of Peculiar Support Equipment, Common Support Equipment, and Government Furnished Equipment to the field. This position is a hybrid role, consisting of direct support to programs and people management.
In this role, the selected manager will be expected to:
Manage and integrate the Support Equipment Engineering efforts listed above.
Be the single point of accountability for accomplishing program objectives for the team.
Identify and communicate design and issue impacts across the larger logistic community on the program to drive design changes and ensure all supportability, program and customer requirements are addressed.
Coordinate with suppliers and other Northrop Grumman business entities to understand and resolve issues associated with supportability and support equipment products and services.
Prepare and manage project schedule and budgets to include EVMS and prepare status reports on the health of the projects.
Identify risks and opportunities and coordinate with project teams to mitigate and retire risks.
Assess issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
Prepare briefings for management and develop actionable metrics for monitoring project progress and tools for intervention and problem solving with project managers, suppliers and clients.
Conduct employee performance assessments, career development discussions, staffing forecasts, hiring and integrating new members to the Support Equipment Team.
Must have at least 5 years of experience in design, project engineering or relevant engineering experience.
Must have an active in-scope DOD Secret Security Clearance.
Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance and special program access within 365 days of submittal.
Bachelor's or Master's of Science degree
Experience working on Military programs utilizing MIL-SPEC and SAE requirements.
Experience developing and coaching for leadership and performance.
Experience integrating Support Equipment Engineering efforts across the disciplines as listed above.
Experience with Systems Engineering Process.
Prior military experience on airborne platforms in an operational or maintenance environment.
