Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an Electromechanical System Responsible Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA.

Essential Functions:

  • Highly-motivated self-starter that will take ownership of learning to become the subject matter expert for the system.

  • Understand how their overall system functions, how all the components that make up their system function and how their system interfaces with other groups or systems.

  • Complete understanding of their system and achieve a general knowledge of all interfacing systems.

  • One of the technical points of contact for their system and will be required to provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems that come up.

  • Be forward thinker and pursue future development opportunities related to the system.

  • Work under general direction, but are expected to independently develop their approach to solutions and work within supplier teams as a technical member and hold the supplier to deliver quality products.

  • Brief management about a variety of topics including existing issues and proposals for future pursuits as needed.

  • Apply research and knowledge in all phases of their system including design, testing, development, sustainment as the subject matter expert of that system.

Qualifications:

Note: This position can be filled at a Principal Electromechanical Responsible Engineer / Senior Principal Electromechanical Responsible Engineer level.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Electromechanical Responsible Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university with 5+ years of engineering experience or a Master's Degree in STEM from an accredited university with 3+ years of engineering experience

  • Experience with commercial or military aircraft

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher with background investigation completed within the past 5 years

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access

  • 2+ years experience in design, development, and sustainment of an electromechanical system

  • Proficient in MATLAB and data analysis tools

  • 1+ years experience with supplier management, program management or systems engineering

Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Electromechanical Responsible Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university with 9+ years of engineering experience or a Master's Degree in STEM from an accredited university with 7+ years of engineering experience

  • Experience with commercial or military aircraft

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher with background investigation completed within the past 5 years

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access

  • 2+ years experience in design, development, and sustainment of an electromechanical system

  • Proficient in MATLAB and data analysis tools

  • 1+ years experience with supplier management, program management or systems engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance or higher with background investigation completed within the past 5 years

  • Current, active Special Program Access

  • 2+ years experience with design, development, sustainment of flight control systems

  • Experience presenting technical content to upper management

  • Experience with flight test Instrumentation and execution

  • Experience in electrical engineering

  • Proficient in MATLAB and data analysis

  • Experience as a supplier management team technical lead, or experience in program management or systems engineering
