We are seeking an experienced Civic and Public Affairs, Communications Manager adept at working effectively across varying internal and external organizations, departments and business lines. Proven experience in setting strategy aligned to business objectives, delivering compelling narratives across multiple channels and cultivating strategic external partnerships, are key to this role leading the Civic and Public Affairs organization for Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics Systems sector. This full-time position is located in California and reports to the director of Media & Public Relations.

In this role, the manager will be responsible for engaging with a range of civic and public affairs audiences, key suppliers and government public affairs officers. The selected candidate will be expected to effectively shape, craft and help the stakeholders deliver messages that speak to the value of Northrop Grumman - our systems, our people and our innovation - resulting in a positive impression of the company and our ability to perform.

The successful candidate also requires exceptional expertise in communications, strong leadership skills, is a big-picture thinker with the ability to "join-the-dots" across disparate lines of information.

Core responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with local government offices, civic and community agencies, local and regional business chambers as well as regional Economic Development Council organizations across target U.S. markets

  • Serve as the Aeronautics Systems civic and public affairs focal point and Community of Practice communications lead and advisor

  • Manage and lead team of public release of information experts

  • Compile, track and share public release monthly metrics and insights

  • Establish and maintain an internal training program on public release processes and contracted government obligations

  • Responsible for leading all civic and public affairs policy and process standards, training, and maintenance of command media for the communications function in the Aeronautics Systems business

  • Demonstrated expertise collaborating across other functional organizations (Human Resources, Government Relations, Corporate Citizenship) to ensure consistent and integrated messaging

  • Partner with the Global Supply Chain communications focal point on external supplier communications and processes, to drive measurable outcomes for the business

  • Partner with the Brand Experience team on civic sponsorship priorities as part of delivering and executing a strategic and integrated communications plan
