Northrop Grumman Production Supervisor in Oxnard, California

Position Summary

The Production Supervisor will report to the Production Manager. They will recruit, hire, train and supervise a team of production technicians and skilled trades personnel engaged in the production of deployable space mechanisms and required tooling. They will assign daily tasks to personnel according to skill and production priorities. They will work proactively with cross functional teams to maintain schedules and remove/communicate production barriers. They will identify training needs and communicate to the Production Manager They will be capable of delivering to quality standards while supporting multiple programs across several different product lines. Will support the production engineering team with implementation of process improvements and will work closely with engineering, quality and test to ensure products and tooling meet quality standards and design requirements.


  • Work with HR and Production Manager to recruitand hire new technicians with the appropriate skill set

  • Conduct daily standup meetings, reviewpriorities, assign tasks, identify barriers and communicate as required.

  • Create and maintains staffing schedules,shift plans and production schedules for production teams.

  • Train technicians as required on assemblyprocesses, test operations and documentation requirements

  • Identify and communicate Non Conformancesto Engineering and Quality.

  • Oversee the resolution of Non Conformancesand Implementation of corrective action as required

  • Work with Production Manager and Testdepartment to share labor resources as necessary to ensure internaldeliveries support test need dates and test completion.

  • Identify and Coordinate the implementationof process improvements.

  • Direct 5S and Area Compliance activities

  • Work with Facilities and Maintenance toensure that production equipment is maintained and repaired in a timelymanner.

  • Support audits and work with crossfunctional teams and quality to resolve audit findings.

  • Lead hardware safety tabletop meetings andpre task crew briefings.

  • Maintain technician training certificationsand coordinate/conduct training classes as required to ensure compliancewith company standards.

  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to optimizeManufacturing Orders and ensure process instructions are understood.

  • Work with Production Planning to ensureManufacturing Orders are released to the factory floor as required tosupport the production schedules.

  • Work with Engineering Liaison, Tool Designerand machinist to ensure tooling and equipment incorporate design formanufacturability enhancements.

  • Manage the creation of manufacturingprocess instructions and training materials required for productionemployees.

  • Interpret and communicate technicalrequirements to assembly and test technicians.

  • This position will require flexibility inworking various shift schedules which may include day, evening, night,weekends and overtime.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree with at least eight (8) years of experience in the field or related area.

  • Must have prior people management experience.

  • Familiarity with standard manufacturing concepts, best practices and procedures, preferably within the aerospace industry.
