Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks an experienced Principal/Sr. Principal Test Engineer for a fast-paced, growing and dynamic position to support our Immersive Mission Solutions (IMS) Operating Unit (OU) located in Orlando, Florida. Northrop Grumman is an industry leader in developing, integrating, and sustaining complex systems for the US Department of Defense.

We are seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Test Engineer to serve as Test lead on one of our SATCOM programs.

This position will be located in Orlando, FL. Relocation assistance may be available for this position.

What you'll get to do:

  • Lead the Integration and Test (I&T Team in development of testing strategy and user acceptance testing plan

  • Develop and documents step-by-step test cases based on the software requirements elicited by mission owners and software developers

  • Identify, log, and track defects

  • Ensure proper version control and configuration management of all test object developed and test environments used

  • Collaborate with development team to understand and assess operational impact to the users

  • Assist in the creation of test project status reports and metrics to provide weekly and/or monthly status to the management team

  • Evaluate the operational readiness of a software application prior to the release or production, ensuring system compliance with external interfaces in a common operating environment

  • Test a system in the actual or simulated environment that it was designed for with users of the system in realistic operational conditions

Basic Qualifications

  • 9 years of experience with a Bachelor's in a STEM field (ideally Software/Systems Engineering or Computer Science) (or 7 years with Masters or 4 years with a PhD

  • Relevant work experience in software and systems testing

  • Experience writing operational test plans and test cases

  • Experience with full systems development lifecycle for software maintenance, development, and/or implementation projects

  • Experience in ensuring full functional testing of new features being added every sprint, with a focus on operational impact and assessment

  • Demonstrated experience in technical problem solving, to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation, and monitoring

  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects or teams

  • Active interim Secret Clearan

  • Active Security+ Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in development and deployment of satellite ground software

  • Experience with the Agile process

  • Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, and Bitbucket)

  • Experience in developing and running automated test and using automated test tools such as Eggplant

  • Experience leading teams

  • Experience in using risk-driven techniques to develop, maintain and execute operational test cases for mission unique software

  • Ability to interact with development team and operational users to assess current software gaps, develop testing strategies, and recommend solutions for testing operationally relevant objectives

  • Ability to assess overall operational effectiveness of a system to accomplish the specified mission, with consideration to functional stability, interoperability, training, and capability to meet defined mission outcomes

Salary Range: $101,600 - $152,400

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
