Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer - Physical Security Specialist. This position will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here .

Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force's sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

Ensure physical security design protecting GBSD assets satisfy program, DoD, and Air Force requirements, and that the design is optimized with the best balance of performance, cost, deployability, and maintainability.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.



You Will Bring These Qualifications:

  • 9 years of experience

  • Experience with DoD or DoE security systems protecting nuclear assets.

  • Experience designing, testing, deploying, and/or maintaining enterprise level security systems to include detection, assessment, access control, display and control

  • Secret clearance with in-scope investigation required, TS highly desirable--Must be able to gain a TS clearance

  • Fluency in Word, Excel, Power Point, and Visio products

  • College degree optional

These Qualifications Would be nice to Have:

  • An understanding of DODM 5210.41M and AFMAN 31-108, in regards to Physical Security equipment requirements.

  • An understanding of AFI 31-101, specifically in regards to Physical Security equipment requirements and differentiations between various Protection Levels

  • Ability to interpret installation drawings - electrical, communications, mechanical, architectural - specifically in regards to Physical Security tenets

  • Some familiarity with currently available COTS Security equipment - specifically equipment authorized for use by USAF Security Forces Center (Authorized Equipment Letters - PL1N & PL1-PL-4)

  • Experience test components, subsystems, and systems

  • Understanding of communications requirements for various signals (RS232, TCP/IP, Single Mode Fiber Optic, RS485), as well as the infrastructure required to support these signals

  • Good communication and organization/leadership skills required-will perform leadership role in requirements definition, design and test
