Northrop Grumman Sr. Principal Systems Engineer in Nellis AFB, Nevada
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) seeks a System Engineering Lead with experience across formal systems engineering lifecycle processes and leadership of program technical execution (including requirements analysis, system design, integration and test) for a fast-paced, growing, dynamic position supporting military synthetic training operations based at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Nevada. NGMS is an industry leader in developing, integrating, and sustaining complex systems for the US Department of Defense. Our engineering teams perform a variety of tasks leading to the successful integration, test, deployment, and sustainment of complex DOD Systems worldwide.
Systems Engineer primary responsibilities may include one or more of the following activities:
Manages ongoing technical operations at Nellis AFB in support of recurring synthetic training missions and capabilities
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems
Analyses performed at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Performs integration and testing activities with contractor provided equipment and systems with various government provided systems.
Generates test plans, test reports, system and software problem reports, and tracks issues through resolution.
Review and analyze system requirements and identify impacts to the appropriate requirements and/or design specifications
Identify integration issues and system requirements discrepancies across multiple systems
Perform systems engineering analysis, design, and development activities to produce digital engineering design artifacts
In addition, the candidate must be a team player, able to work comfortably and effectively with company team members as well as program stakeholders and DoD contractor personnel using strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills. Also, the candidate may be required to travel in support of customer interface, technical interchange meetings, remote site technical support, and event/exercise support.
9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical STEM field.
US Citizenship required with an active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD TS/SCI clearance
Ability to manage and lead the technical activities of a multi-site cross functional engineering team responsible for network administration, computer systems administration, security operations, and recurring synthetic training event operations
Experience working within formal engineering & design processes for the development of complex systems
Ability to support integration and testing of various synthetic training SW applications (CGFs, Flight Simulations, SW based radios) using different computational system platforms
Experience with DoD Systems such as IFF, Radar Systems, Radio Communications, Data Links, Munitions, Electronic Warfare, Aircraft Representation
Familiarization with synthetic training modeling and simulations standards (DIS, HLA, TENA) and typical military synthetic training operations
Familiarization with computer networking, cyber security principles and practices, and related diagnostic and analysis tools
Ability to compose materials such as detailed reports, work-related manuals, publications
Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions
Active US DoD TS/SCI clearance
Familiarization with DoD SATCOM and intelligence operations, concepts and training methodologies
Ability to develop and present material outside the immediate work function
Possess a working knowledge of software programming functional design and implementation concepts
Experience performing computer system and software performance analysis
