Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Sr. Staff Algorithms Development Engineer in our diverse and talented team. The Algorithms Development Engineer position will be located in Melbourne, FL.
The selected candidate will lead algorithm development of fusion tracker algorithms and integrate developed algorithms with operational scenarios and representative surrogate hardware in our end-to-end Mission Systems SIL. This role will support the Mission Systems IPT.
The Mission Management team is seeking a candidate with experience in developing algorithmic/mathematical solutions for sensor track fusion and sensor resource management. The candidate has experience with development of Kalman filtering techniques, tracking systems and track fusion, pattern recognition, multi-hypothesis tracking, covariance analysis, geo-location methods, interacting movement models (IMM), multispectral sensor fusion with 1D, 2D and 3D sensor measurements, error estimation, classification, track correlation/association, measures of performance (SIAP) metrics and analysis, statistical methods, and threat and behavior modeling. The candidate also has experience in sensor resource management and fuzzy logic ruleset design and implementation.
In this role, the candidate will work closely with software development teams to assist with productionizing the algorithms into mission systems software. The candidate should be comfortable tackling challenging problems which lack clear definition. This role is expected to support the Mission Systems IPT as the sensor fusion Subject Matter Expert. Experience in the following areas is a plus: EOIR subsystems, EW subsystems, RF/antenna subsystems, digital communications, data processing methods and capabilities.
Candidate will contribute to high-visible activities and have opportunities to periodically demonstrate integrated capabilities to sector leadership and high value customers.
Essential Functions:
Develop sensor fusion algorithms that can be hosted on a mission systems platform.
Test/experiment algorithmic design using measures of performance assessment tools, sensor modeling.
Assist software developers in incorporating algorithms into production software.
Test/experiment design to conduct parametric performance analysis
Direct customer and supplier interaction to include regular presentations and detailed analysis
Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 14 years + of related professional/military experience in Electronics Engineering to include a background in Radar/RF, OR a Master's degree AND 12 years of related professional/military experience in Electronics Engineering to include a background in Radar/RF, OR a Ph.D. AND 9 years of related professional/military experience in Electronics Engineering to include a background in Radar/RF.
Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with data reduction from flight test/ lab integration activities
Experience integrating and debugging algorithms in C/C++ Proven ability to brief technical presentations to stakeholders.
Familiarity in Agile and Digital Engineering processes
Familiarity with Atlassian tool suite
Experience with math/computing tools (MATLAB, etc.)
Familiarity with lab based testing and integration of software into representative hardware
Familiarity with sensor modeling and simulations.
Salary Range: $171,000 - $257,000
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
