Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer - Modeling and Simulation to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Melbourne, Florida.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops and integrates new and/or existing system simulation frameworks, performance models, algorithms, threat models, and command and control models

  • Simulates real-time operations and develops software that simulates the behavior of systems

  • Develops, integrates, and user advanced graphical user interfaces and visualization tools

  • Models operational environments, performs trade studies via computer simulation, and recommends alternative architectures

  • Performs operational analysis and mission effectiveness analysis

  • Reviews and analyzes system requirements and assesses impacts to the appropriate features, functions, and subsystems using a model architecture

  • Performs mission engineering activities to ensure continuity between desired operational capabilities and delivered system performance through systems engineering "V"

  • Ensures performance capabilities of new systems and architectures are traded against cost and mission requirements

  • Develop mission relevant scenarios to assess operational effectiveness of existing and emerging systems and capabilities in representative operational environments

  • Performance technical planning, requirements analysis and development, verification and validation, cost and risk tradeoff analysis, and supportability and effectiveness analysis for total systems

  • Support system specification updates and associated performance enhancements and interface development/upgrade efforts

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and at least 9 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and at least 7 years of relevant experience OR A PhD in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and at least 4 years of relevant experience

  • Experience with engineering modeling practices including the use of at least one scripting language (Matlab, Python, Etc.)

  • An active, in-scope, DoD Secret level security clearance (or higher) with issue or reinvestigation in the last 5 years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in engineering, physics, computer science, operational research, or applied mathematics

  • Experience with system of systems modeling tools: AFSIM, NGTS, and/or STK

  • Experience with analysis of systems and processes

  • Experience working in a rapid prototyping environment

  • Knowledge of GIT source control

  • Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite
