Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal/Senior Principal Python Database Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Global Supply Chain organization. This role is located onsite in Palmdale, CA or Redondo Beach , CA or Melbourne, Florida.

The GSC Data Analytics team develops and maintains complex data solutions for customers throughout the supply chain. Daily responsibilities include administrating a highly integrated Python, MSSQL, and BI HANA ETL pipeline with the unique challenge of incorporating classified and unclassified ERP data. Products range from high level executive dashboards to mission critical flat files delivered directly to end users. Candidates will need to coordinate directly with the customer to understand functional requirements, then independently create solutions and products to meet those requirements while maintaining scalability and codebase best practices.

Designs, develops, builds, analyzes, evaluates and installs database management systems to include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation and configuration management. Uses data mapping, data mining and data transformational analysis tools to design and develop databases. Determines data storage and optimum storage requirements. Prepares system requirements, source analysis and process analyses and design throughout the database implementation.

Creates data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting, and data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets. Analysis may have many applications such as to address a business issue or provide a competitive advantage for the organization. Requires statistical and data visualization skills.

In this role, the selected candidate will perform the following:

  • Architect, design, develop, document, test, integrate and debug data products created by scripts and custom tools

  • Meet project milestones while ensuring high quality standards are met

  • Interface with other groups and subject matter experts within and outside of the organization

Basic Qualifications:

  • Level 3: Must have a bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience, OR a Master's Degree & 3 years of related experience

  • Level 4: Must have a bachelor's degree and 9 years of related experience, OR a Master's Degree & 7 years of related experience

  • Must have 1 year of Python experience

  • Must be proficient in Transact -SQL (T-SQL)

  • Must have experience with writing Python scripts to automate data insertion/extraction (ETL)

  • Must have the ability to obtain a DOD clearance and program access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD security clearance

  • ERP experience especially Supply Chain data

  • Experience with Eclipse - HANA Studio, Spyder, VS Code IDEs

  • Experience interpreting and anticipating requirements from stakeholders

  • Knowledge of Data Visualization tools (i.e. Tableau, Microsoft Power BI)

  • Knowledge of SAP Fiori and BI HANA

  • Experience with configuration management and version control tools such as JIRA, Git/Bitbucket, Azure DevOps

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; strong interpersonal and analytic skills

Salary Range: $90,400 - $135,600

Salary Range 2: $112,000 - $168,000

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
