Northrop Grumman Aeronautics has an opening for a Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals supporting the Joint STARS program located in Melbourne, Florida. This position will maintain and develop an application software interface with the Linux operating system, scripting operating system configuration changes and automating deployment of a configured Linux system.
Integration, troubleshooting and testing of implemented software changes
Take ownership of an ambiguous hard problems and drive to a solution, while working in a team environment.
Understand the software development life cycle and have an in-depth knowledge of automated testing to facilitate and analyze large data sets.
Participate in the full life-cycle of software development, to include requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit to CSCI testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance.
Apply technical expertise in solving complex integrations problems.
Interact with Program Management, external suppliers and/or government customers.
Contingency : Position requires at minimum a DoD Interim Secret Clearance to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain a full Secret Clearance within a reasonable amount of time. However, candidates without a clearance may apply.
Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 5-years of software engineering experience or Master's Degree in a (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 3-years of software engineering experience.
Experience developing software / writing code in C/C++, Java, or other OOP languages
Position requires at minimum a DoD Interim Secret Clearance to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain a full Secret Clearance within a reasonable amount of time. However, candidates without a clearance may apply.
Active DoD secret/interim secret clearance
Excellent oral and written communication skills and Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to write scripts in Bash or similar
Experience integrating applications with the Linux operating system
Experience configuring Linux operating system and networking
Experience with HMI, especially OpenGL or Motif/UIL
Experience integrating hardware software solutions, and providing software support in a large scale lab environment
Experience in developing and maintaining FORTRAN
Knowledge of mathematics and/or physics relating to radar processing, navigation, or tracking
Experience with software source control and software build processes
