Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Software Engineer join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.

Work with internal business partners to gather requirements, prototyping, architecting complex solutions supporting the building & test plan execution, performing quality reviews, triaging and fixing operational issues. It is critical that you understand the software development life cycle and have an in-depth knowledge of automated testing to facilitate and analyze large data sets.
Must be able to thrive in fast-paced environments, while multi-tasking and reprioritizing daily.
Draft whitepapers & proposals, create and present PowerPoint presentations
Participate in the full life-cycle of software development, to include requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit to CSCI testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance.
Apply technical expertise in solving complex integrations problems.
Interact with Program Management, external suppliers and/or government customers.
Work with various team members to integrate functionality with other software components
Gather and report software metrics as required
Support software working groups with the customer
Ensure software best practices
Become the subject matter expert for various subsystems of the program and contribute to the overall design of the software.
Contingency: Position is contingent on Program Award and having a DoD Secret level clearance.
Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field from an accredited university with 5-years of software engineering experience OR a Master's Degree in (STEM) with 3-years of software engineering experience OR a PhD Degree in (STEM).
Experience developing software/coding in C/C++ or other OOP languages within both Windows and Linux environments
Knowledge of 5G communication software development
At minimum, an active DoD Secret level security clearance is required to apply and start on Day 1, with the ability to obtain and maintain special program access (PAR) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite with add-ons like Git and Confluence
Familiarity with the Agile software development process
Desired experience in creating Basis of Estimates (BOEs) and/or executing program budgets.
