Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Principal Environmental Qualification Responsible Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Melbourne, FL.
This position is currently contingent on program award and associated program award funding. Start dates are determined after funding confirmation.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Environmental Qualification Responsible Engineer is expected to be a highly motivated self-starter with an ability to operate/communicate effectively with leadership, customer, suppliers, engineers, and technicians.
Environmental Qualification (EQ) engineer expect to write/draft, interpret, allocate, tailor, and flow down requirements to all design levels.
Expect to present during design reviews to internal and external customers regarding EQ issues.
Expect to author design guidelines, review test procedures, test reports, technical analyses, participate in cross discipline design reviews, develop models and perform analyses on components, subsystems, and systems in accordance with governmental and non-governmental standards, for example MIL-STD-810 and DO-160 and travel to supplier sites to guide/witness tests.
Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 5 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master’s degree in a (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 3 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. (STEM) AND 0 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering.
Must have experience working with Military Subsystems or Avionics Systems Environmental Qualification (EQ).
Must have an Active, In-Scope, DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher that has been granted / renewed within the past 6 years.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain DOD Top Secret Security Clearance.
Must have and maintain special program access after start of employment.
Must be able to brief/support customer/subcontractor meetings as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
In-depth knowledge of governing standards such as MIL-STD-810 and RTCA DO-160.
Active Top Secret clearance with access to Special Program.
Must have and maintain special program access after start of employment.
Experience with avionics thermal and/or vibration analysis and related software such as ANSYS, Flotherm, FEMAP, etc.
Experience designing avionics from a mechanical perspective, including understanding of circuit board interconnects.
General familiarity with overall integration of all aircraft systems.
Experience with defense and aerospace industry practices, and programmatic skills supporting BOE, RFP, ROM, CAM, WBS, Risk assessments for EQ compliance is a plus for candidates.
Salary Range: $92,600 - $139,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
