Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL . This Position will be working with the Logistics and Modernization group.
The selected candidate will contribute in the analysis, research, design, manufacture, and testing associated with aircraft Support Equipment.
Mechanical design of test, measurement, and handling equipment used on military aircraft.
Gathering of data, requirements development, interfacing with suppliers, and performing basic stress and tolerance analysis
Acting as manufacturing liaison during build process of your project to ensure overall quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved
Development of test plans and performing environmental testing of Support Equipment
Testing and integration of manufactured Support Equipment on aircraft
Proficient with design, drafting, and stress analysis of mechanical systems. Drafting skills shall include considerable knowledge of solid modeling software, (NX, Pro Engineer, or Catia), or CAD based computer drafting software.
The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Candidate must also be willing to travel to various site locations to demonstrate the function of the designed equipment.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university and two (2+) years' experience in the design of mechanical and/or electro-mechanical subsystems OR a Master's Degree in Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university and zero (0) years' experience in the design of mechanical and/or electro-mechanical subsystems
One year (1) of experience using CAD software in generating detailed engineering drawings used for manufacturing of mechanical and/or electrical assemblies.
An active in-scope DoD Secret or higher clearance that has been reinvestigated or graduated in the past 5 years
The ability to obtain additional Special Access Program (SAP) access
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Three (3+) years experience in the design of aircraft support equipment.
FAA A&P Certificate or equivalent aircraft maintenance background.
Experience in the automation of complex electro-mechanical systems.
Experience with process/procedure development, control, and improvement.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
