Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an Instrumentation Design Engineer 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible to select/design sensors and transducers, cable interface assemblies, and data acquisition equipment for lab, ground, aircraft, and other test activities

  • The candidate will specify sensors such as microphones, accelerometers, strain gages, temperature sensors, load cells to meet program measurement requirements

  • The individual will be responsible for design of cable assemblies to interface sensors to data acquisition units

  • Research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks

  • Design electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes

The selected candidate will lead and contribute to a team of design engineers through the engineering release process for instrumentation centric drawings. Candidate should be familiar with electrical harness design and the Common Product Lifecycle Management (CPLM) release process and capable of negotiating the release process while maintaining a drawing release schedule.



Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of software engineering experience OR

  • Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 3 years of software engineering experience OR

  • PhD Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university

  • Experienced in one or more CAD software solutions such as CATIA, Unigraphics, or NX

  • A current DoD Secret or Top Secret/SCI level security clearance, to include a Single Scope Background Investigation, a periodic reinvestigation, or an original adjudication date completed within the last 6 years

  • The ability to obtain and maintain program access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Flight Test data acquisition

  • Experience working/leading in design teams

  • Experience in Common Lifecycle Product Management of electrical harness or instrumentation design

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
