Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for aGuidance, Navigation & Control Manager 3to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located inMelbourne, Florida.

This position is to serve as the Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) sub-Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead on a fly-by-wire fixed wing aircraft program. The GN&C sub-IPT Lead reports to the Vehicle Management System Director and the program Chief Engineer with responsibility, authority, and accountability (RAA) for the GN&C sub-IPT (cost, schedule and technical).

The GN&C sub-IPT tasks are as follows: design, develop, implement, verify and test algorithms, software and simulation tools to perform guidance, navigation and control of manned aircraft. Develop control laws to meet air vehicle performance, flying qualities and stability margin requirements, both on ground and in flight. Design pilot relief autopilot and associated logic functions. Develop air vehicle system linear and non-linear dynamic simulation models and integrate models into software and hardware-in-the-loop simulation environments. Perform performance and flying qualities analysis. Support pilot-in-the-loop simulation handling qualities testing. Analyze air vehicle flight test data and support flight test activities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in Guidance Navigation & Controls Engineering or Master’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with a minimum of 5 years' experience in Guidance Navigation & Controls Engineering

  • Technical leadership experience of the GN&C discipline in the program, R&D, and/or functional environment

  • Active DoD Secret or Top Secret Clearance with full investigation within the last 6 years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Special Program Access

  • Two plus years’ experience successfully leading or performing technical, cost and schedule performance measurement

  • Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university

  • Experience designing and testing fly-by-wire control laws for piloted aircraft, running handling qualities evaluations with pilots and supporting flight test (including making control law updates based upon flight test findings)

  • Technical leadership in manned aircraft fly-by-wire systems

  • Working knowledge of MIL-STD-1797 flying qualities requirements.
