Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Systems Security Engineer to join our Joint STARS cybersecurity systems engineering team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.
This position requires experience with cybersecurity standards and methodologies based on DoD, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Committee on National Security Systems Instruction (CNSSI), and risk Management Framework (RMF) processes, policies, and guidelines. This position also requires knowledge and experience using systems engineering methodologies and techniques.
The successful candidate must be able to perform assessments of security controls, prepare technical documents, support ongoing authorization inputs, develop procedures/processes/policies, and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with minimal direction. This role is responsible for cybersecurity systems engineering duties as assigned. Engineering experience with effective program execution and mission assurance is an important skill for a successful candidate in this position. The successful candidate should thrive in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, diverse assignments, and constant collaboration across all levels.
Apply knowledge and experience using systems engineering methodologies and techniques
Requirements development and analysis including supporting trade studies
System architecture and modeling
Preparation of technical documents, support of ongoing authorization inputs, development of procedures
Interface with other cyber functional areas, internal company management and executives with a focus on effective program execution and mission assurance.

Basic Qualifications for a Cyber Systems Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience OR
Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 0 years of related experience
This position requires an active and in-scope (investigation within 6 years) DoD Secret level security clearance.
Experience with DoD system security engineering activities
Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF), Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG), and requirements development from controls
Possess an active appropriate certification as required by DoD Directive 8570.01-M for an Information Assurance System Architect Engineer (IASAE) Level II position
Engineering experience (systems, software, test) with DoD weapon systems
Experience with DoD certification and accreditation (C&A)/Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities, security processes, and documentation/reporting using DIACAP, NIST, CNSSI, or NISPOM guidance as required
Knowledge of work products resulting from guidance in the RMF (NIST SP 800-52) and NSSI (CNSSI 1253)
Knowledge and experience using systems engineering methodologies and techniques
Knowledge of work products resulting from the application of the RMF to the DoD (DoDi 8500.01 Cybersecurity)
Knowledge of work products resulting from the application of NIST 800-171 (controlled unclassified information)
