Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems sector is looking for a Data Scientist to support the Civil and Health organization/business unit within the Information Solutions & Services Division (ISS). The Data Scientist will support a program for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) focused on the identification and elimination of fraud, waste, and abuse. The Data Scientist will performs tasks which may include obtaining data through advanced computerized models, extrapolating data patterns through advanced algorithms, developing simple graphs and charts to explain how the mathematical information will influence the specific project or business, and presenting to managers how to best alter their business models to generate cost-effective and cost-efficient future trends.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Use appropriate analytical techniques such as Artificial intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML), modeling & simulation, text mining & analysis, natural language processing, sentiment analysis, social network analysis, graph analytics, geographic data mapping, and/or time series analysis to analyze data around improper payment/fraud prevention and detection.
Provides recommendations based upon data analysis to identify opportunities to avoid improper payments and address instances of fraud.
Provides data analytic support to VBA and other stakeholders with reports, analytics, and with other ad hoc requests.
Assists VBA with the documentation, development and implementation of policies and procedures to address risk of improper payments and instances of fraud.
Ensures metrics, dashboards and other reports are developed and sustained to support all user needs including VBA needs for tracking program integrity.
Provides input and peer reviews for new data sources and interfaces, modeling and analytic needs, as well as recommendations for future roadmap items.
