Northrop Grumman Mgr Contract Admin 3 in McLean, Virginia

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Contracts Manager 3 (Senior Contract Manager) to join its team of qualified, diverse individuals, supporting its Combat Systems and Mission Readiness (CSMR) division. The successful applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's CSMR Division contracts organization and will have overall contracts management responsibilities for the Short Range Air Defense (SHORAD) Operating Unit. This position will require managing a staff of geographically dispersed professionals with travel to various sites as required. The preferred location for this position is in McLean, Virginia, Huntsville, Alabama or Redondo Beach, California.

We are seeking a highly qualified, strong leader to influence and enable the strategic direction of the SHORAD Operating Unit. The successful candidate will be a direct report to the C4 Missile Defense Contracts Director and will work closely on a day-to-day basis with the Operating Unit Director, business managers, capture managers, and proposal teams throughout the Operating Unit. Will serve as key business advisor to the Operating Unit Director on contractual and operational matters as well as ensuring that contractual risks are identified and mitigated.

The Senior Contract Manager's responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Provide strong leadership with ability to counsel, coach, develop and motivate staff of professionals

  • Ability to effectively work with the management of other organizations (program management, subcontracts, pricing, business management, and supply chain management) as well as representatives of Government agencies.

  • Provide advice to various levels of leadership regarding the acquisition life cycle, contractual rights, obligations and interpretation of terms and conditions and risk posture

  • Ability to work with diverse levels of external customers and build customer intimacy

  • Review and approve contractual documents for protection of the company's contractual/risk posture, satisfaction of contractual requirements and ensuring adherence to company policy and therefore a keen attention to detail is essential

  • Work with management teams within the division and sector to develop innovative solutions for complex processes and issues

  • Planning and executing successful contract negotiations of a complex nature and achieving targeted profit rates as well as favorable terms and conditions to assist in meeting profit and cash goals.

  • Exceptional organizational, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Critical thinking skills, problem solving and risk mitigation proficiency is a must.

  • High level of overall "Objectivity" and the impact upon strategy beyond proficiency in administration.

  • Be a role model for diversity and inclusion through seeking out and including diverse opinions and perspectives, has the ability to solve complex problems by actively seeking information and new ideas from a variety of sources.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related discipline with 10 or more years of progressive experience, of which the majority is in Government acquisition management, including knowledge of contracts in the US Government market and at least 1 year in supervisory/management of individuals

  • Experience in proposal development, negotiation and administration/management of various contract types of varying sizes and types of agreements.

  • Expert knowledge and experience in US Government Procurement regulations and procedures including FAR, DFARS.

  • Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance (Department of Defense).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or higher in a related discipline (MBA/JD)

  • 4 years management/supervisory experience

  • Global contractual experience with international pursuits and contract awards

  • Commercial, State and Local contracting experience

  • Active US Top Secret Security clearance

  • NCMA Certification (CPCM, CFCM and/or CCCM)
