We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal or Sr Principal RF Engineer based out of McClellan, CA. As a Principal or Sr Principal RF Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You'll get to Do:
Design, develop, test radio frequency (RF) and/or microwave systems architecture, components, circuits, circuit card development, or products. Assignments can include antenna design and analysis for antennas and array systems, frequency synthesizers, transmitters and receivers; this position will also perform design, documentation and delivery of RF CCAs and modules. You will apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts. The work contributes to the development of new principles and concepts. This person will work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious.
You will also get to:
Support or lead teams for new or re-design efforts: update drawings, coordinate with different functional teams to make updates in a timely manner
Schedule staff and equipment resources to meet test milestones; perform and complete Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and creation of reports for system sell-off
Provide technical acumen for HW- technical resource on various phases of the project provide technical interface/point of contact/responsible engineer- subcontractors, vendors, customers, and field support
Support proposal efforts as needed: obtain quotations, material costs, BOM support, generate white papers, generate TDBOEs, cost and schedule estimates.
Attend/Support ERB/CCBs, Review and approve documents and provide hardware support as needed.
Support ad-hoc tasking providing HW support to SW development, create test procedure documentation and training packages, select and testing of replacement components due to DMS, support of field questions and testing
Perform technical analysis:
Evaluate system level tradeoffs and specification impacts of upgrades/design efforts and hardware replacements.
Perform RF & System Hardware analysis/development as directed by Program Managers/team leaders.
Perform signal integrity analysis using HFSS or similar tools for ground plane noise interface.
Perform chassis specification allocation to meet System Level Performance.
Review chassis, CCA, component, system test data.
Evaluate specification modifications vs. rework of hardware
Calculate parameters as needed. E.G. material replacement required recalculation of coplanar waveguide impedance to determine if line spacing / thickness would need to be modified if the new material was substituted.
This position may be filled as either a P rincipal RF Engineer or Sr Principal RF Engineer.
Basic Qualification Principal RF Engineer:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 5 years' relevant experience OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 3 years experience
Proven experience in RF Analysis tools such as ADS, Microwave Office, FEKO, HFSS, AWR VSS
Experience in maintaining / reporting status of program activities while collaborating with employees within the department and across functions.
Ability to work with little direct supervision, self-motivated, self-starting.
US Citizen and must have the ability to obtain and maintain at least a Secret level Clearance per business requirements.
Basic Qualification Sr Principal RF Engineer:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 9 years' relevant experience OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 7 years experience
Proven experience in RF Analysis tools such as ADS, Microwave Office, FEKO, HFSS, AWR VSS
Experience in maintaining / reporting status of program activities while collaborating with employees within the department and across functions.
Ability to work with little direct supervision, self-motivated, self-starting.
US Citizen and must have the ability to obtain and maintain at least a Secret level Clearance per business requirements.
Preferred Qualifications :
Degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in (RF concentrations)
Hands on tuning of boards with ability to isolate and mitigate spurs and noise
Control + resolution of spurs and noise via design and analysis tools
Design RF filters both embedded and strip line
Working knowledge of the Maxwell Equations
Posses a Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance
Familiarity with Mentor Expedition
Knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and CAM experience
Familiarity with AS9100 and helpful
Working knowledge of system sensor and sensor testing
Experience testing antenna products
Experience in maintaining / reporting status of program activities while collaborating with employees within the department and across functions.
Salary Range: $104,600 - $157,000
Salary Range 2: $129,700 - $194,500
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
