The Digital Products Department (part of NG Strategic Space Systems) in Manhattan Beach, CA is seeking a talented Sr. Staff Engineer - Digital Architect.
This person will be required to architect, model, simulate prototype, test and deliver complex digital systems hardware in a highly dynamic environment and support test systems for spacecraft flight programs.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong interest, education and/or background in DSP (Digital Signal Processing) theory with particular emphasis on space hardware development, design and implementation. Candidate should be aware of and interested in digital transmitter and receiver architectures and be able to grow and eventually interface with cross-disciplinary teams in systems, RF, mixed-signal and digital hardware. This candidate will also support pre-proposal and proposal activities.
Potential responsibilities include:
Supporting the implementation of digital modem hardware architecture and algorithms such as for timing and carrier synchronization, coding and decoding
Providing support for test and verification efforts for Space-based FPGA designs including lab support, test and debug, possible VHDL test code, ordering parts and equipment.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in STEM from an accredited institution and minimum of 14 years with Bachelor degree OR a STEM Master degree with a minimum of 12 years of experience OR a STEM PhD with a minimum of 9 years of experience
Must have previous experience in defining/developing digital architecture and leading digital trades from the subsystem to chip level
Must be able to model and simulate in Matlab/Simulink or C/C++ Must have good interpersonal and management skills and able to work well in a team environment
Must have good oral and written communication skills
Candidate must have, and be able to maintain, at least ONE of the following active U.S. Government security clearances:
Dept of Defense Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years OR Dept of Energy Q clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with a focus on DSP
Cost estimation, cost/schedule (CAM) experience
Subcontract technical management experience including creating SOW includes reviewing RFI responses in support of make/buy decisions.
Hands-on lab experience
Active SCI, or SSBI clearance

Salary Range: $196,800 - $295,200
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
