Principal / Sr Principal Space Systems Engineer - Mission Operations Manhattan Beach, CA

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

The Mission Operations Engineer is responsible for development of the plans, procedures, and products necessary to execute launch and early orbit test for a Class B/C space program. Role will present opportunities for cross-division visibility, career growth and development.

A successful engineer will assist in the development, planning, test, training and validation of the System Operations through the Early Orbit phases, including ownership for contractual deliverables.

This role is open to Principal OR Sr. Principal level.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Planning and coordinating support for launch and early orbit test

  • Planning and coordinating with SMEs throughout the company to compile technical data for system level operations

  • Coordinating with other IPTs on ops procedures and products (e.g. SOPs, procs/scripts) relevant to launch and early orbit test

Basic Qualifications for Principal Space Systems Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5+ years of engineering experience OR Master's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 3+ years of engineering experience OR PhD in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline

  • Active TS/SCI clearance

Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Space Systems Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 9+ years of engineering experience OR Master's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 7+ years of engineering experience OR PhD in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 4+ years of experience

  • Active TS/SCI clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a rapid development environment

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Experience in satellite activation or TIP/Operations development or execution is preferred

  • Experience with Cameo and MBSE principles / practices

  • Ability to work and manage the integration with multiple internal and external stakeholders

Salary Range: $129,700 - $194,500

Salary Range 2: $104,600 - $157,000

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
