Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) is seeking a Principal Electromechanical Engineer/ Sr. Principal Electromechanical Engineer to join the Electronics and Payloads’ Product Engineering Department. The position will be located in Manhattan Beach, CA.
This requisition can be filled at a level 3 Principal Electromechanical Engineer or a level 4 Sr. Principal Electromechanical Engineer. Additionally, p lease be aware that this position will also be contingent upon capturing program award and obtaining customer funding.
The Product Engineering Department is an organization of ~100 engineers that performs advanced electronic packaging development in support of a variety of products destined for space and air programs.
In this role you will:
Perform mechanical design using computer-aided design (CAD) software
Conduct packaging trades, tolerance and interference analyses, generating drawing packages and associated electronic data
Collaborate with diverse stakeholders across organizations and programs to balance design requirements, hardware producibility and affordability
Support the fabrication, assembly and test of high reliability space flight hardware.
Basic Qualifications – Principal Electromechanical Engineer:
A Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 5 years of engineering experience in an aerospace environment; OR Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 3 years of engineering experience in an aerospace environment
The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SCI clearance
Experience with 3D CAD and mechanical design
Experience leading or supporting a team of over 5 employees
Experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders across organizations and programs.
Proficiency in performing tolerance and interference analyses
Basic Qualifications – Sr. Principal Electromechanical Engineer:
A Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline and 8 years of engineering experience in an aerospace environment, or a Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 6 years of engineering experience in an aerospace environment
The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SCI clearance
Experience with electronics packaging, 3D CAD and mechanical design
Experience leading a team of over 5 employees
Experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders across organizations and programs
Proficiency in performing tolerance and interference analyses
Preferred Qualifications – Principal/Sr. Principal Electromechanical:
A Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
Experience with electronic packaging / mechanical design for space applications
Experience with electronics design development and sustaining spanning cradle to grave
Experience with PTC Creo, Windchill and Enovia software applications
Experience with or knowledge of analytical / FEM SW tools
Experience supporting bid & proposal activities
Proficiency with electrical design, electronics manufacturing processes and qualification activities
An active DoD Secret or Top Secret, and/or SCI clearance

Salary Range: $110,300 - $165,500
Salary Range 2: $137,400 - $206,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
