Northrop Grumman has an opening for a Mechanical Technician 2. The selected candidate will join the Electronics and Payloads, Electronic Assembly and Test team. The ideal candidate will performs a variety of tasks under minimal supervision, ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies such as modules, boards, panels, drawers, frames, and cables.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Works from diagrams and drawings.

  • Makes continuity checks on work in process and completed.

  • May conduct quality inspections on processing line in accordance with quality specifications.

  • May disassemble, modify, rework, and reassemble.

  • Lay out articles, cut parts or materials to size and apply liquid or solid bonding agents

  • Operate ovens to complete bonding cycle.

  • Control conditions of heat, pressure, and timing by setting and operating various controls according to the specifications for the materials and the bonding agent being used.

  • Ability to be certified for a half & full-face respirator.


Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years of bonding experiences in aerospace, military, and/or manufacturing

  • Candidate must have, and be able to maintain, at least ONE of the following active U.S. Government security clearances:

•Dept of Defense Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years

•OR SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years

•OR Dept of Energy Q clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years

  • The ability to pass Special Medical/Respiratory Exam

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Provides direction and guidance to lower level non-exempt employees

  • Often designated as a lead worker

  • Advanced knowledge in specialized functions such as Bonding, Conformal coating, Foaming, Soldering, and Fabrication of assemblies

  • Duties and tasks are usually varied and complex. Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of problems and issues
