Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) sector is seeking a Quality Manager 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Madison, Alabama supporting the Huntsville Manufacturing Center.

The selected applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Mission Assurance organization. You will be responsible for the management of the Product Assurance team of quality engineers, supplier quality engineers, quality analysts, and inspectors. Define and monitor mission assurance program specifications and processes to ensure mission success of programs. Perform or assure quality, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability of program achievements, subcontractors, and suppliers in accordance with contractual requirements. Assess program performance and risks, and determines resources to ensure mission assurance

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains open, honest, and direct communication of product assurance information to the Business Unit (BU), Organizational Units (OUs) and program management through an independent reporting chain to the site Mission Assurance (MA) manager

  • Leads daily inspection (incoming / in-process) operations and oversees the scheduling, utilization, and performance of the inspection team

  • Promotes the professional development of the inspection workforce and fosters a collaborative culture that sustains the momentum around employee engagement and inclusion, affordability, innovation, value growth and continuous improvement

  • Ensures the development and implantation of quality plans, programs, and procedures using statistical quality control statistics, lean manufacturing concepts, and six-sigma tools and analyses

  • Drives affordability through continuous improvement techniques (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean)

  • Advocates and implements continuous improvement opportunities, providing leadership and guidance in identifying and executing tasks to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of program performance

  • Ensures that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards

  • Assures the establishment of a meaningful metrics and measurement baseline that will assist the organization in meeting its critical objectives

  • Interfaces with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor, and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met

  • Provides clear assignments, helps employees connect their efforts to the bigger picture, creates an inclusive work environment characterized by mutual respect and the valuing of differences, and builds a culture that motivates employees to their highest levels of performance

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have one of the following:

  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 10 years of years of quality/mission assurance and/or logistics experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related discipline with a minimum of 6 years of quality/mission assurance and/or logistics experience

  • Master's degree in business or related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of quality/mission assurance and/or logistics experience

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience leading diverse teams and/or projects

  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

  • Must be able to work on-site in Madison, Alabama

  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 10% of the time)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Green/Black Belt Certified

  • ASQ certified

  • ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 trained auditor

  • SAP expert

  • Experience in coordinating and facilitating third party ISO audits

  • Experience in a manufacturing, integration & test environment for quality engineering

  • Experience in product assurance principles and practices including: quality engineering, manufacturing, assembly, integration, functional and environmental testing, receiving inspection, supplier quality systems, workmanship inspections and audits

  • Familiar with VoC and effective in interfacing with DCMA and external Customers
