Northrop Grumman Supplier Quality Engineer 3/4 in Linthicum, Maryland

Northrop Grumman is seeking an Supplier Quality Engineer3/4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Baltimore, MD.

As part of Mission Assurance, you will be a member of the Supplier Quality Information Systems team responsible to support purchase order flow down requirements for products and services procured by the Mission Systems Sector.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Supplier Quality Engineer will spend considerable efforts in reviewing and understanding program and regulatory requirements for flow down to suppliers. The candidate will also be responsible for review of Drawings, Program and Material Master Requirements to determine whether Part Traceability, Special Processes, Shelf Life, First Article Inspection, Pre-cap Inspections, Source Inspections are needed and apply appropriate text notes to the requisition's flow down. Additionally assign appropriate inspection plans to parts during requisition review and/or create new inspection plans as needed.

Other activities would include (but not limited to) review of Purchase Orders prior to release to determine suppliers approval status and whether they meet special process and electrical part requirements, specific program requirements or are approved on Sourced Control Drawings. Additionally, determine the program status to create Quality Info Records to either certify the parts, send through Receiving Inspection or Source Inspect as appropriate. Coordinate with Global Supply Chain and Supplier Quality Management as needed to determine if Limited Supplier Approvals are required as well as review Purchase Orders with Low Vendor Quality ratings to determine if Corrective Actions are needed and coordinate those actions with appropriate Supplier Quality Engineering.

As needed, perform yearly testing of SAP system when upgrades are required.

The candidate has technical training and/or experience in specifications/standards, drawing interpretation, and practical knowledge of MS Office Applications.

This position may require occasional in state and out of state travel.

This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 or level 4.

Basic Qualifications for a level 3:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Stem field.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience working within engineering.

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.

  • Experience developing, collecting, and analyzing metrics.

  • Experience with measurement analysis methods.

  • Experience in drawing interpretation.

  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Basic Qualifications for a level4:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Stem field.

  • 9+ years of experience working within engineering.

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.

  • Experience developing, collecting, and analyzing metrics

  • Experience with measurement analysis methods.

  • Experience in drawing interpretation.

  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Preferred Qualifications for level 3 and level 4:

RF/Electrical background a plus

SAP Business System experience

Experience in drawing interpretation to ANSI Y14.5.

Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification

Experience working in the aerospace environment

Secret Clearance
