Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking Staff Systems Integration & Test (SI&T) Engineers to support test and verification activities of RF sensor systems. What you'll get to do: As the lead developer of radars, COMMS, and SIGINT for some of the most advanced systems in the U.S. arsenal, Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is a world leader in advanced sensor systems and design. These include airborne RADARs for fighter jets & UAVs including F-22, F-35, F-16, Global Hawk (Triton), and Gray Eagle (STARLite), airborne surveillance RADARs for AWACS and E-7 (MESA), and ground and maritime RADARs including G/ATOR and SEWIP. Qualified Systems Integration, Test & Evaluation (SITE) engineers will perform hands-on integration and testing of sophisticated RF sensor systems, including both hardware and software components in development and production environments; Synthesize internal and external customer needs and requirements into system tests that acknowledge technical and schedule constraints; Participate in the development and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures, and schedules for verifying system requirements; participate in I&T readiness reviews, design reviews and conducts audits of I&T program facilities; Coordinate integrated testing activities that may include environmental, reliability and the occasional flight test; Review and evaluate test requirements to ensure completeness of test program; Perform analysis of test results and prepares comprehensive reports; Use modeling and simulation tools to expedite testing of individual units before all system components are available and for troubleshooting and repair of failed units.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Systems Integration & Test technical expert on programs, leading integration, testing & troubleshooting of RF sensor systems

  • Lead system integration strategy and flow development, developing test plans and defining test environments, scenarios and objectives

  • Drives a multi-disciplinary integration team through technical hurdles and solutions, enforcing integration processes

  • Interfaces with product design teams for implementation of root cause resolutions

  • Working with Integrated Product Team leads to develop schedules, develop material for and present at technical design reviews, and assist with resource management, including engineering staff, benches, and integration assets

Basic Qualifications for a Staff Engineer:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 14 years of experience; or 12 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree or 9 years of relevant experience with a Ph.D. 4 additional years in lieu of a degree

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher

  • Strong depth of experience with RF Hardware and test equipment

  • Strong depth of experience with MATLAB coding, test scripting, data analysis and signal processing

  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex HW/SW integration problems

  • Knowledge and experience in firmware and hardware control integration planning and execution

  • Knowledge and experience integrating and testing software written in C, C++.

  • Strong understanding of Systems Engineering concepts, including requirements analysis and verification planning and execution

  • Experience working in and leading a multi-disciplinary team environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate internally and external team members

  • Ability to qualify for program access based on customer requirements (SAP/SAR)

  • Some experience working with embedded systems design and implementation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in the development of ground, air, or sea-based radar, EW, and/or COMMS systems

  • Knowledge and experience in experimental Flight Test planning and execution

  • Knowledge and experience in environmental and EMI/EMC planning and execution

  • Knowledge and experience in secure processing and systems security integration planning and execution

  • Knowledge and experience in on-site test demonstrations planning and execution

  • Utilizes experience and knowledge of lab test equipment to develop and apply digital engineering tools and techniques to further the progress of digital transformation for Systems Engineering and Integration and Test.

  • Knowledge and experience with proposals, basis of estimate creation, technical volumes, etc.

  • Knowledge and experience developing scripts/code in Python/C/C++ to automate manual processes

  • Knowledge and experience with Agile principles, tools, and implementation

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

This position is contingent upon transfer of DoD Secret Clearance

Salary Range: $157,500 - $236,300

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
