Northrop Grumman Semiconductor Engineer - Metrology 2/3 in Linthicum, Maryland

The Engineering, Sciences & Technology (ES&T) organization of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an exceptionally talented, motivated, and creative Metrology Engineer for our Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) - located outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs.

Our multidisciplinary foundry team enables activities from development to sustainment process engineering. ATL is responsible for all aspects of semiconductor technology including design, mask making, wafer fabrication, test, and assembly. The candidate must be a strong team participant, have excellent communication skills, and be resourceful and multitalented.

The Metrology Engineer should possess knowledge of thin film metrology, optical image review techniques and practices. The selected candidate should have an aptitude for data analysis, technology development and demonstrate an ability to communicate well with others and work equally well independently and as part of a team.

The Metrology Engineer will be responsible for:

  1. maintaining existing and developing new in-line metrology recipes and techniques

  2. assisting with ongoing efforts to integrate in-line metrology into our process flows

  3. writing and maintaining process documentation

  4. supporting statistical process control (SPC), continuous improvement efforts and the management and dissemination of metrology data

below:

Thisrequisition may be filled as a level 2 or a level 3

Basic Qualifications for a level 2:

BS in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or other related technical discipline with 2 years of relevant experience (1 year with a MS)

Hands-on knowledge and operation of metrology (such as CD SEMs, litho overlay tools, surface topology profilers, thin film thickness measurement tools) or analytical tools

Familiarity with script programming (C#, R, .NET, Python, Perl) and data manipulation experience

Direct experience with semiconductor fabrication or other applicable industry

Basic knowledge of statistical process control

Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance

Basic Qualifications for a level 3:

BS in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or other related technical discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience (3+ years with a MS and 1 with a PhD)

Hands-on knowledge and operation of metrology (such as CD SEMs, litho overlay tools, surface topology profilers, thin film thickness measurement tools) or analytical tools

Experience with script programming (C#, R, .NET, Python, Perl) and data manipulation experience

Direct experience with semiconductor fabrication or applicable industry

Intermediate knowledge of statistical process control (SPC)

Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience developing new processes and sustaining legacy processes

Strong understanding of semiconductor technology and metrology engineering.

Experience in lean manufacturing practices and structured problem-solving methodology

Extensive knowledge of lithography, metrology, simulation, and analytical tools

Data analysis and visualization (JMP)

Experience developing technical specifications for equipment procurement

Advanced knowledge of statistical process control (SPC)

Active Secret clearance
