Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is currently seeking a Principal S/W Engineer to join our growing team of diverse professionals in our MS DesignOps (User Experience) organization. The preferred location for this position is on-site in Baltimore, Maryland, Rolling Meadows, Illinois, or San Diego, California but part-time or full-time teleworking may also be considered.

Summary of Role:

This role is an embedded position in the User Experience team which consists of UX Researchers, UX Designers and UX Engineers. The primary responsibility of this position will be to support the development of web-based tools, websites and demos on a cross-functional team. Responsibilities include:

  • Interface with requirements, and derive design from requirements

  • Develop and test user interfaces

  • Collaborate with team members as well as Engineering to ensure software requirements are met.

  • Perform software peer reviews, version control, automated tests, software analysis, continuous integration and continuous delivery in accordance with DevSecOps processes and best practices.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • One of the following: ​​​​​​

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline and a minimum of 5 years' experience in web development/coding or related field

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline, and a minimum of 3 years' experience in web development/ coding or related field

  • 9 years of years' experience in web development/ coding or related field in lieu of degree

  • 3 + year of experience with Java/C++ development and/or front end web development including JavaScript Frameworks, HTML and CSS.

  • 3 + year of experience with Agile program management tools (JIRA) and/or agile development teams

  • 3 + year of experience with DevSecOps, continuous integration and continuous delivery

  • Experience with version control software such as Git

  • Experience developing user interfaces that are ADA 508 compliant

  • Experience building responsive web applications

  • Experience developing mobile applications

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance or higher

  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 25% of the time)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with UX designers and researchers to build applications

  • Experience building user interfaces that comply with MIL-STD constraints

  • Experience with UX prototyping and design applications such as Axure, Sketch and InVision

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud

  • Experiences with node.js, C# and java

  • Interest or experience in UI design patterns used in modern gaming, VR and AR

  • Basic understanding of Digital Engineering concepts
