Overview:

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector (NGMS) is seeking an Agile Product Owner at the Principal or Senior Principal Embedded C/C++ Software Engineer level to support the Emerging Capabilities and Development Organization.

This role will work in an exciting area of developing productized security solutions using Commercial Off the Shelf technology. Our existing program teams perform new feature development and enhancements, providing secure, embedded solutions to many customer platforms.

The selected engineer will work with stakeholders to understand their requirements and use cases, while using that information to guide and direct a team of engineers to implement and deliver those needs. The selected candidate will be responsible for regular interactions with program management and stakeholders including providing updates on risks, technical issues, and progress. The selected candidate will also interface with architects and systems engineers to ensure technical designs meet customer requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Maintain the Backlog of tickets and provide regular updates to Technical Lead.

  • Manage and track work being performed, i.e Jira.

  • Ensure Jira Epics are captured for the period of performance.

  • Prioritize stories for a given program increment.

  • Ensure all stories are assigned to a given Sprint.

  • Track completion of program increment scope and report at sprint reviews.

  • Break down Technical Barriers.

  • Support Agile Ceremonies with Scrum Master. (Daily Standup, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, Backlog Refinement, PI Planning)

Basic Qualifications at the Principal Level:

  • 5 years of relevant professional experience with a bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline; 3 years with Masters; 0 years with a PhD

  • An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Experience with Agile (Scrum) team execution best practices and principles

  • Strong C/C++ background, Python background.

  • Understanding of core Software Design Principles, Data Structures and Design Patterns.

  • Experience developing, delivering, and supporting a secure embedded product.

  • U.S Citizenship

  • Active DoD Security Clearance at the Secret Level (or above) is required to start.

Basic Qualifications at the Senior Principal Level:

  • 9 years of relevant professional experience with a bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline; 7 years with Masters; 4 years with a PhD

  • An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Experience with Agile (Scrum) team execution best practices and principles

  • Strong C/C++ background, Python background.

  • Understanding of core Software Design Principles, Data Structures and Design Patterns.

  • Experience developing, delivering, and supporting a secure embedded product.

  • U.S Citizenship

  • Active DoD Security Clearance at the Secret Level (or above) is required to start.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Xilinx and Microsemi FPGAs and their development tools.

  • Tools: Git, Atlassian (BitBucket, Confluence, Jira), Jenkins, static & dynamic code analysis (i.e., SonarQube, Nexus)

  • High level of comfort and experience in presenting technical content to customers through both written and verbal means.

  • Experience developing boot software (First stage bootloader, U-boot, UEFI, etc.) for custom boards.

  • Applied cryptography and middleware experience (e.g., OpenSSL, Wolf SSL, CRYSTALS-Kyber, Crystals-Dilithium, TLS)

  • Experience developing register-level models of hardware IP in SystemC/TLM2

  • Device Driver development in Linux and or VxWorks

  • Optimizing software for size and speed

  • Modifying and integrating open-source software

  • Experience in DevOps practices and tools.

This position is contingent upon Clearance Transfer and Special Program Access approval prior to starting.

Salary Range: $102,400 - $153,600

Salary Range 2: $127,000 - $190,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
