As an integral part of our Core Systems Engineering Team you will be a mentor to a program that is transforming concepts into real systems and working across disciplines on a fast-paced development effort while balancing new and traditional implementations of Systems thinking.
This position may be filled as a Principal Core Systems Engineer or a Senior Principal Core Systems Engineer and requires up to 100% on-site work in the Linthicum/Baltimore, Maryland campus and the ability to pass an enhanced security review.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Support preparations, execution, and resolution of major system reviews (e.g., PDR, CDR, SVR, TRR, Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs), Functional Configuration Audits (FCAs), etc.)
Work with product teams in different disciplines and domains to ensure compliance
Create and maintain descriptive system models
Ensure system technical compliance with the program Statement of Work (SOW) and system requirements
Work with the SEIT Lead to oversee system configuration management of the System Technical Baseline
Support the transition of the system to the operations, maintenance, and sustainment stakeholders
Basic Qualifications for Principal Core Systems Engineer:
Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of experience, a masters degree with 3 years of experience or a PhD with 0 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics or related technical major; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
US Citizenship is required.
Active DoD Secret Security clearance required and ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) access prior to start.
Exposure to system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentation
Previous participation in major Systems reviews, including SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR, etc.
Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
Experience working through the Systems Engineering process
Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Core Systems Engineer:
Bachelor's Degree with 9 years of experience, a masters degree with 7 years of experience or a PhD with 4 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics or related technical major; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
US Citizenship is required.
Active DoD Secret Security clearance required and ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) access prior to start.
Exposure to system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentation
Previous participation in major Systems reviews, including SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR, etc.
Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
Experience working through the Systems Engineering process
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics or related technical major.
Active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance or higher, SAP access, and/or SCI eligibility
Technical expertise in airborne sensor systems
Understanding of DoD systems engineering requirements
Experience effectively communicating and presenting complex technical concepts to project, program, and company management, other technical managers, and customers.
This position is contingent upon the successful transfer of an active DoD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) prior to starting.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Salary Range: $102,400 - $153,600
Salary Range 2: $127,000 - $190,600
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
