Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a dedicated Software Engineer with the desire to learn new technologies to join our team to help develop, enhance and maintain cutting edge test software products. Join a test design community that offers unique software/hardware challenges and develop skills from multiple engineering disciplines.
The ideal candidate is a self-driven problem solver. Employee will support the entire product lifecycle development, from design & implementation through laboratory test and debugging to ensure that test requirements are met. They will work closely with metrology engineers, software engineers, test technicians, and customers, troubleshooting and correcting root causes of various test system level issues.
Additionally, the selected individual will conduct reviews of software related products, software designs, and technical documents. The responsibilities include active participation in design reviews, technical peer reviews and other reviews, as required to ensure software/testing requirements are being met from an end-to-end point of view. Individuals must be self-starters and able to efficiently operate in a team environment. The selected individuals will be expected to prioritize and make recommendations to Technical Leads, as required.
This position is located in Baltimore, MD and may be filled at a Software Engineer (band 2) or Principal Software Engineer (band 3) level, depending on candidate experience.
Basic Qualifications for a Band 2:
Bachelor's Degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or 1+ year(s) with a Master's Degree (an additional 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree)
Experience using object-oriented programming languages, such as: VB.NET, Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW
Experience with measurement techniques using standard test equipment, including DMMs, oscilloscopes, RF signal generators, and spectrum analyzers
Experience troubleshooting software/hardware integrated test systems
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Basic Qualifications for a Band 3:
Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of relevant experience, or 3+ year with a Master's Degree (an additional 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree)
Experience using object-oriented programming languages, such as: VB.NET, Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW
Experience with measurement techniques using standard test equipment, including DMMs, oscilloscopes, RF signal generators, and spectrum analyzers
Experience troubleshooting software/hardware integrated test systems
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
Working knowledge of common test automation interfaces and protocols (SCPI command language, IEEE-488.2, USB, RS-232, LAN/LXI)
Experience with Visual Studio
Experience with XML
Experience with HTBasic
Excellent integration troubleshooting skills
Technical leadership experience
Salary Range: $81,000 - $121,600
Salary Range 2: $99,800 - $149,800
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
