The Director of Advanced Program Development (APD) for the Emerging Capabilities Development (ECD) organization will lead a high-performance team of 3 managers to engage with DoD Research and Development leaders to create and shape new program opportunities for technology development that deliver relevant mission solutions. They will be accountable for growing qualified pipelines beyond $3B over a 5-year planning period, ensuring customer intimacy, and partnering with business, technical and model-based engineering leaders to position to win priority programs. The APD director will conduct S&T customer and competitor market assessments, and engage in ECD strategic business planning and generate data-driven reports of team actions and outcomes to peer and senior-leader stakeholders.

The APD director will ensure the team maintains a high levels of customer intimacy with DARPA, AFRL, Army Futures Command, MANTECH, while personally leading NGMS engagements with ONR and other DoD R&D offices. This leader will develop, track and execute strategies that increase the probability of winning the priority programs in the pipeline, and directly contribute to value growth and financial performance.

This senior leadership position will report to the Director of Strategy within ECD, and will conduct regular engagements with SES and Flag-level customer leaders, as well as VP-level leaders within Northrop Grumman. The individual will also represent ECD at sector-level strategic growth and pipeline reviews, and regularly prepare and present plans and status to BU leads and the ECD leadership team and NGMS Chief Technology Officer. Additionally, this leader will develop meaningful executive-level customer interchanges, organize and review NGMS content and participants, and ensure execution of follow-up actions in a timely manner. Finally, this leader will coordinate across NGC R&D organizations to streamline customer engagement activities and resolve conflicting or redundant efforts.


Basic Qualifications:

•Master's Degree with a minimum of 12 years of related experience

• Minimum 8 years of management experience in Business Development, Strategy, Program Management, or Engineering Management

• Demonstrated experience with New Business / Capture Management

• Demonstrated experience with DoD R&D organizations, budgets and programs

• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment

• Effective communication and presentation skills

• Demonstrated use and development of data analysis tools, resources and methodologies to develop and monitor execution of plans

• Active Secret Clearance with ability to obtain SAP, as required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Doctorate Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or a similar technical field

• 15 years of related experience

• 10 years of management experience in Business Development, Strategy, Program Management, or Engineering Management

• Active Top Secret Clearance
