Northrop Grumman Defect Engineer 3/4 in Linthicum, Maryland

The Advanced Concepts and Technologies (AC&T) group of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an independent and resourceful Semiconductor Engineer Defect Engineering for our Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) - located outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs.

Northrop Grumman's ATL semiconductor foundry is a unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, Silicon Carbide, Carbon Nanotubes) and providing leading edge technology development in superconducting electronics. Our devices enable a number of Northrop Grumman's ground-based radars, airborne radars, and space systems.

Our multidisciplinary foundry team enables activities from development to sustainment process engineering. ATL is responsible for all aspects of semiconductor technology including design, mask making, wafer fabrication, test, and assembly.

Roles and Responsibilities:

developing defect inspection strategy for new materials and processing of materials in emerging superconducting electronics

developing defect classification systems

responsible for the defect inspection equipment, defect data management, and inspection processes.

The position is a day shift (1st shift) position.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

This requisition may be filled at either level 3 or level 4.

Basic Qualifications for level 3 are:

-BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials, Chemistry, Physics, or related technical discipline with 5 years of relevant semiconductor experience (3 with an MS, 0 with a Ph.D.)

-Experience as a defect engineer in a semiconductor foundry

-Experience with relevant inspection equipment; Brightfield, Darkfield, SEM and optical defect review, as well as data management systems

-Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance

-BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials, Chemistry, Physics, or related technical discipline with9 years of relevant semiconductor experience (7 with an MS,4 with a Ph.D.)

-Experience as a defect engineer in a semiconductor foundry

-Experience with relevant inspection equipment; Brightfield, Darkfield, SEM and optical defect review, as well as data management systems

-Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS Degreein Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering

  • Secret clearance
