Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Capture Manager for our sector Capture Excellence organization. This position reports to Northrop Grumman offices at either McLean, Virginia; Linthicum, Maryland; Huntsville, Alabama;or Plymouth, MN. This leadership position is an important role for the growth of the Sector, influencing and supporting capture teams drive our long-term growth in domestic and international markets throughout our portfolio. The selected candidate will work closely with the Business Unit’s leadership team and other industry and government partners to manage all aspects of the assigned pursuits. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with experience in both program management and in leading business opportunity analysis, strategy development, and execution of captures/proposals toward winning new business. The selected candidate must be adept at quickly understanding what is required to win, developing compelling value propositions, and presenting strong business cases to help secure leadership approvals. The position will support the development of capture strategies to include a business solution for pursuit of opportunities; identifying potential customers, competitive assessments, teaming suppliers, and position-to-win; and will participate in bid and proposal activities.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities Include:
Provides advice and support to Division capture teams and executes capture activities that lead to winning new business and achieving awards and sales growth.
Supports the sector’s Capture Excellence Council, responsible for capture process improvement and improving collaboration across divisions
Creates / shapes and prioritizes new business opportunities to achieve business financial targets for growth.
Supports the development of capture strategy and tactics to produce capture products such as competitive assessments, teaming strategies, and solution-to-win analysis results applied to improve competitive posture.
Assists in developing business relationships and industry partnerships toward enabling teaming partners and industry associations to help drive partnerships.
Plan, conduct risk management and lead project performance addressing cost, schedule, and technical quality for large system development type contracts. Execute proposal development including managing process, writing proposal responses, and developing pricing to deliver compelling and compliant proposals.
Assists capture teams in making decisions that require evaluation of many alternatives. Typically integrates input from multiple sources and which may affect business outcomes.
Responsible for the successful operation of activities that have significant consequence to the organization.
Support the development and management of capture investment projects, including cost, schedule, and execution.
Represents the sector as prime internal and external contact for new business captures.
Conducts briefings and technical meetings for top management and customer representatives. Interacts with equivalent-level managers concerning matters of significance to the company.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 10 plus years of experience related to Department of Defense (DoD) business, programs, or operational experience
Strong international and domestic experience in strategy, capture, and program management
Knowledge of DoD acquisition and U.S. foreign military sales processes inclusive of U.S. export and technology release policy
Advanced knowledge of techniques, practices or theories gained through wide seasoning and/or special development. Typically, a broad functional knowledge within a discipline(s).
Strong interpersonal skills that ensure collaborative and trusting relationships with the team, peers, customers, and leadership
Capacity to guide and lead cross-functional teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to develop and deliver executive level presentations
This position may require up to 50% of travel.
Active Secret or Top Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business or finance
10 plus years of experience related to Department of Defense (DoD) programs
10 plus years of experience with domestic or international business development, capture and/or program management
Knowledge and understanding of the U.S. Government’s competitive acquisition process including federal procurement regulations (FAR/DFAR).
Applied DoD FMS management experience
Direct experience working on or with DoD programs
Current/active TS/SCI security clearance.
Salary Range: $172,500 - $271,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
