Northrop Grumman is seeking experienced personnel with P-3 aircraft background to support a contingent maintenance program with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in Jacksonville, FL. The CBP P-3 fleet consists of Airborne Early Warning (AEW) and Long Range Tracker (LRT) high-endurance, all-weather, tactical turbo-prop aircraft. The AEW aircraft are utilized primarily for long-range patrols along the entire U.S. border, and in source and transit zone countries. The LRT aircraft are used to intercept, track airborne and surface threats in source and transit zone countries. The P-3 aircraft are equipped with state-of-the-art, highly sophisticated sensor equipment, i.e., radar, electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) detecting systems.
Are you ready to put your experience to work at Northrop Grumman? If so, we want you to join our Team as a SCA Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic. This position will be located in Lake Charles, LA. We are looking for self-starting individuals that can work independently to maintain GSE in support of an operational aircraft maintenance department.
You will diagnose malfunctions and repairs GSE, inspects and approves completed maintenance actions, solve repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics, and technical publications; uses automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions, and analyzes, diagnosis, and repairs GSE using conventional and digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools.
Maintains external fuel and grounding systems, performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE, inspects, tests, and operates GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation, services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air, diagnoses mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical publications. This work also does the following: disassembles and assembles malfunctioning GSE accessories and components, removes, disassembles repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and reinstalls GSE components and accessories, stencils and marks GSE in accordance with technical publications, stores, handles, labels, uses, and disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations.
Prepares GSE for storage and mobility deployment; and operates, cleans, inspects, and services GSE towing vehicles. In addition to maintaining vehicle records, this mechanic maintains and updates paper and electronic equipment records, provides dispatch service for GSE, including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations, practices good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety at all times.
Everything in the Aviation must be properly documented, checked twice for accuracy, and properly filed and logged as any incident or inspection by higher echelon, FAA, or National Transportation Safety Board can lead to lives lost and careers ending.
Basic Qualifications: 1. A High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of experience in the GSE field or in a related area
2. Experience in automatic transmission, hydrostatic and final drive system repair.
3. Experience with Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems repair.
4. Experience tire/wheel maintenance procedures, multiple type buildup, storage and disposal.
5. Strong electrical skills and experience in AC and DC system troubleshooting and repair/rework
6. A valid state driver's license.
7. Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work; Attention to detail and problem solving skills
8. Ability to obtain/maintain a Customs and Border Protection SSBI
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Familiarity with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Programs (NAMP) or equivalent.
2. Associates or higher degree in related field.
3. A current Secret Clearance.
