Northrop Grumman Enterprise Services is seeking an Accounting Assistant to support the Accounts Payable Purchase Order (PO) Team. The selected individual will report to the manager of Accounts Payable and will utilize SAP and Open Text to support Accounts Payable functions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, company policies and procedures, disclosure statements, and government regulations, as they relate to our accounts payable tasks.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Timely and accurate processing of PO invoices

  • Utilize SAP and OpenText to perform Accounts Payable processing of invoice payments

  • Perform accounting activities within the context of GAAP, FAR, CAS, and corporate policies and procedures

  • Demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills to help resolve vendor and internal personnel inquiries

  • Ability to operate independently

  • Monitor and work to departmental and individual processing metrics

  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned

  • The ability to clearly and professionally communicate related accounting policies and procedures

  • Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity

  • Supports month-end requirements

  • The ability to clearly and professionally communicate related accounting policies and procedures

  • The ability to multitask and work independently to meet service delivery agreements


Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience.

  • Intermediate skills in Excel and thorough knowledge of other Microsoft applications including Word and Outlook

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accounting orientation, and the ability to multi-task and manage time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP experience

  • 1 to 3 years A/P experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/ Finance or related field

  • Experience in a financial services environment

  • Government contracting experience

  • Advanced Excel Skills

  • Understanding of FAR, GAAP, CAS, and SOX requirements

  • Microsoft Access Experience
