Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Software Engineer / Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL.

Position Overview:

The selected candidate will be responsible for software development for the MASC-F (Modeling and Simulation – Framework) program, performing analysis and technical support of systems software products, including resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support.

Essential Functions:

  • Working within an Agile team environment, to include Program Increment Planning, Iteration Planning, Feature and Story development, Sprint Planning, and Iteration Retrospectives.

  • Creating and running automated software builds and pipelines in a Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) environment

  • Participating in demos for the team and program Sprint reviews

  • Collaborating with Stakeholders and Government customers

  • Writing programs using C++, Java or similar languages

  • Developing software documentation

  • Creating and running unit test

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a Software Engineer or a Principal Software Engineer level.

  • Software Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of experience.

  • Principal Software Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years experience, or a PhD and 0 years of experience.

  • Candidate is expected to be proficient in C++.

  • Experience with GitLab/Git for software configuration management

  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux OS

  • Experience programming network connections (message generation, formatting, UDP and TCP/IP interfaces)

  • Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs.

  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD issued secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with automation or analysis

  • Agile Scrum experience

  • Experience with Java and user interfaces

  • Experience with Jira - issue tracking and agile project management, or similar tool

  • Multi-core and multi-threaded programming

  • Familiarity with MDA Sensors and missile defense systems

  • A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Top Secret security clearance.

Salary Range: $83,300 - $124,900

Salary Range 2: $102,400 - $153,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
