Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Cyber Systems Engineer in Huntsville, AL.

Job dutiesinclude:

  • Interaction with users to determine hardware/software requirements and installation and configuration of hardware, operating systems and COTS

  • Ancillary duties will include, but are not limited to: evaluation of vendor products, providing recommendations to purchase hardware and software, providing backup recovery, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, building of systems and computing asset management

  • Applicant must be experienced in STIG configuration, classified processing, and security procedures

  • Virtualization experience such as ESX

  • Experience managing a highly virtualized testing lab

  • Experience with remote and local system deployments

  • Familiarity with NAS and SAN technologies (NetApp SAN, EMC SAN, HP, NAS) - CISSP or Microsoft OS Certification

  • Experience with Ansible

  • Manage an entire VCF (VMWare Cloud Foundation) stack: vCenter, vSAN, vRealize.

  • Monitor and maintain current vSAN infrastructure to ensure its integrity and functionality.

  • Maintain inventory of underlying hardware, specifically ESXi hosts and included storage.

  • Represent as the main POC in coordinating with VMware regarding troubleshooting when required.

  • Monitor and maintain VMware stack's associated licensing regarding its products: vCenter, vSAN, vRealize.

  • ESXi scripting and automation in support of server commissioning and maintenance.

  • VMware cluster configuration

  • VMware Horizon maintenance and support

  • Maintain high level of proficiency in all VMware and Microsoft technologies.

  • Implement software upgrades in the within the VCF stack when necessary.

  • Develop and maintain documentation regarding the elements of each VCF product and how they are configured.

  • Develop standard operating procedures regarding the VMware stack and create associated documentation.

  • Coordinate with System Engineering to create long-term solutions to help keep vMWare stack scalable.

  • Understanding of remediating security vulnerabilities; experience hardening Windows and RHEL systems per RMF and STIGs.

  • Windows Domain architecture experience.

  • Windows Active Directory, Windows Domain administration experience.

  • Microsoft MECM, SCCM, WSUS, and/or SMS experience.

  • Current Security + CE (or other DoD 8570 certification), or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire date.

  • Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.

  • Ability to work after hours and weekends as needed.

  • Experience with VMWare infrastructure

  • Certification from VMWare, Windows (MCSE), and/or RedHat with Satellite Administration

  • Administration and troubleshooting of Linux (RHEL / CENTOS) 7/8 servers and workstations.

  • Administration and troubleshooting of Windows Server 2016 / 2019, and Windows 10/ 11 systems.

  • Administration and troubleshooting of VMWare vSphere systems (VCSA and ESXi) systems.

  • Automate system maintenance tasks with scripting tools (PowerShell, Python, Ansible, etc.)

  • Experience with cybersecurity compliance through the use of security frameworks and remediation tools (SCC SCAP scanner, STIG Viewer, and Nessus)

  • Familiarity with software network interfaces

  • Experience in automation of installation, configuration, and test scripts

  • Experience with Atlassian tools such as Confluence and JIRA

  • Active, current Security+ certification

  • Experience with writing and using scripting languages to support hardware/software integration, debugging, and maintenance.

Basic Qualifications :

Associate's degree and 7 years of experience, or Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience, or a Master's degree and 3 years of experience; a High School diploma or equivalent with 9 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.

IAM Level I certification (ex: Security+ CE) or greater; maintaining the required certification will be a condition of continued employment.

Active DoD Secret security clearance: maintaining the required security clearance will be a condition of continued employment.

Salary Range: $104,700 - $157,100

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
