Northrop Grumman Mission Assurance Engineer 5 in Huntsville, Alabama

Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced Mission Assurance Engineer 5to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals supporting a program in Huntsville, Alabama.

The selected candidate will be responsible for defining and monitoring quality and mission assurance program specifications and processes on a highly complex program to ensure strong program performance, customer satisfaction, and mission success.

The Mission Assurance Engineer will perform or assure quality, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability of program processes, achievements, subcontractors, and suppliers in accordance with contractual requirements, and assess program performance and risks.

The Mission Assurance Engineer will be an essential member of the program team, supporting the Program Director for day-to-day activities, and will receive technical guidance, leadership, and support from the Technology Services Global Mission Excellence and Technology homeroom organization to which he/she will directly report.

Roles and responsibilities include:

  • Assess program performance, deliverables, and risks to ensure strong program performance, mission success, and adherence to the division and sector Quality Management System and Command Media

  • Conduct process audits and assessments

  • Define, coordinate, review, and analyze program metrics, including Quality and Technical metrics

  • Lead Continuous Improvement activities, after-action reviews, corrective/preventive actions, root cause analysis, lessons learned, and other independent reviews.

  • Investigate problems; develop disposition recommendations as well as corrective actions for recurring discrepancies

  • Assess monthly quality status and present results at management reviews

  • Coordinate and facilitate the programs' Preventive and Corrective Action Board (PCAB) and track all corrective/preventive actions to closure

  • Coordinate, facilitate, and/or support the program Risk and Opportunity Management Board

  • Support and provide input for program reporting and reviews (e.g., Program Management Reviews, Program stoplight metric reporting, Program Execution Reviews)

  • Review program plans, procedures, processes, and deliverables

  • Ensure that the program's Contract Requirement Traceability Matrix (CRTM) is complete, current, and compliant

  • Represent the program on various Quality-related boards and working groups involving Northrop Grumman and our partners

  • Work with the program director to recommend/approve supplier quality requirements and assess subcontractor performance

  • Perform supplier audits and witness/support test and acceptance events as required

  • Support capture/proposal activities for related programs as required

  • Advise program leadership and staff on all Quality-related matters, both technical and administrative

  • Provide advice and guidance on various quality requirements, particularly those relating to MDA programs

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field and a minimum of 14 years' progressive experience in Quality/Mission Assurance and/or related experience in systems engineering, production, integration, operations, configuration management, test, and/or program management on large, complex programs

  • Ability to define, plan, coordinate, prioritize, and execute work independently and coach and guide others

  • Attention to detail coupled with the ability to quickly learn, assess, and evaluate new processes/procedures and recommend courses of action to meet program objectives

  • Demonstrated ability to select and coordinate key metrics and subsequently present meaningful data for project review

  • Ability to generate and analyze quantitative data using statistical methods and tools

  • Ability to communicate complex information in various formats (written and verbal) to a variety of stakeholders

  • Confidence to brief upper management and elevate issues to appropriate levels

  • Familiarity with Risk and Opportunity Management principles and processes; ability to drive risk mitigation, opportunity capture, and issues resolution across all stakeholder disciplines throughout all phases of the program lifecycle

  • Experience working on MDA programs

  • Active DoD Secret clearance

  • US Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Process improvement experience/certification, e.g., Lean Six Sigma

  • Hands-on experience/training in ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality standards

  • Audit experience

  • Supplier Quality experience

  • Familiarity with Northrop Grumman policies and procedures
